Construction are meant to last for decades. And if the quality of the raw materials used is low, the outcome will also be of poor quality. That's why you should be careful while choosing raw materials for your project. Plywood is such a product that can cost you a fortune if not chosen carefully as there are many low-quality plywoods available in the market, which get damaged within a short period of time.

As there are so many plywood manufacturers in India, it can be an overwhelming and confusing task to find the right one who provides genuine products. if you know how to check the quality of the plywood, it would become an effortless process to choose one. Here are some of the factors you should keep in mind before purchasing plywood for your next project.

What’s your purpose?

As you know, there are different types of plywoods available on the market for different uses like water-resistant, fire-retardant and termite-proof. Some plywoods would be ideal for interior applications and some would perform better for exterior applications. IIf you are selecting plywood for your bathroom door, you should go ahead with marine-grade plywoods, which can resist exposure to water for a very long period of time. So make sure you know what grade of plywood works best for your purpose.

Check the ISI Mark

A product bearing the ISI mark verifies that it complies with the Indian standard of quality, which is set by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). By looking for this mark, you can be sure that the product is of good quality and that you will not be scammed into buying cheap products at an inflated price. So, be sure to check the ISI certification of the plywood you are about to shop. Check these factors for verifying the quality of the plywood:

The MR and BWR grade should have the IS of 303. The BWP grade must have the IS of 701 Every ISI stamp also contains a seven-digit CM/L number. This number will provide you with details of the manufacturer on the website of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

A physical test

Apart from the certificates, you can check yourself on the plywood to detect if there are any flaws. Make sure the plywood has no bumps on the surface and all the edges have a uniform thickness. You can also knock on the plywood sheets to detect whether there are any hollow spaces.

When a product is expensive, it doesn't mean that it is of good quality. Take matters into your hands and get the best quality product for the price you pay.
